New Walks and Talks Series

Manchester Guided Tours is joining with Band on the Wall to bring you an exciting new series of walks and talks.  The first talk, on ‘Cottonopolis’, took place on Sunday 19th February 2012 at 14:00 and was given by experienced and fascinating Manchester Blue Badge Guide, Jean Bailo, to a full house.  Thank you to all who came.  The talks will be free of charge and open to all!  The bar at BoTW will opening at 12 noon, and there will be delicious two-for-one food on offer. Full details of the forthcoming series will be on our website soon.

Manchester Histories Festival comes to town 24 February – 4 March 2012

MHF is a celebration of Greater Manchester’s unique history and heritage, through a ten day programme of events and activities

With a wide range of activity from talks and walks, to film showings and games to play, MHF will appeal to all ages and backgrounds. See what’s on and come and join in!

Manchester Guided Tours are leading a series of walks for the Histories Festival, including Imigrants of Manchester, Medical Manchester, The Gangs of Manchester, Mrs. Gaskell’s Manchester, Ancoats and Little Italy, Chinatown, Germanchester, Cottonopolis, Manchester’s Victorian Dark Underbelly (including tour of Manchester Police Museum), Irish Manchester, Annie Horniman’s Manchester.

Manchester Town Hall CLOCK TOWER guided tours.

  • If you missed the Christmas tours, don’t fret because Manchester Guided Tours are going to be leading groups up the 173 steps to the top of Manchester’s Town Hall clock tower again during the Manchester Histories Festival.
  • Tours are taking place on Saturday 25th February and Saturday 3rd March at 10:00, 11:30, 13:00, 14:30 and 16:00. To book your place call the Town Hall on 0161 234 4433, or book in person at the Town Hall reception at the Albert Square entrance.  Tours cost £7.50.  Unsuitable for under 12s.

English Tourism Week 2012

Manchester Guided Tours is donning silly costumes and taking a free guided walk to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics on Saturday March 17th at 13:00 from Manchester Visitor Information Centre.  Expect an audience with Queen Victoria and some Manchester sporting celebrities!  Donations are welcome and will be given to the Lord Mayor’s Charity.
