“Hi, I just wanted to say we had a brilliant time on the tour on Sunday. Anne was very informative and very interesting, I don’t know how she can remember it all. We were a group of all ages from 18 to 64 and we all equally had a great time. We will definately be going on the other tour you have running when we can all make it. Please pass on my comments and appreciation. Many Thanks” SB

“Hi Emma, I would like to thank you for a very interesting Gangs of Manchester Tour yesterday. You are obviously very knowledgeable about Manchester and Salford in the 19th Century and it was great to hear so many interesting stories. Despite the bitterly cold weather I could have carried on longer because everything you had to say was so fascinating! I have been on several Manchester tours and this one is by far the best. Hope to see you on another one in the not too distant future!” JB

“I would particularly like to thank my Guide Helen, who walked me round the city centre on Sunday afternoon. She is hugely knowledgeable, and explained history, geography, politics and philosophy with humour and clarity. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she was unstinting in her time – what started as a two hour walk actually became three, and I came away feeling that I had rediscovered Manchester” DA, journalist

“We’ve just had a superb tour of Manchester Town Hall lead by Green Badge Tour Guide Helen Freeborough. She was utterly charming, entertaining and her knowledge of the building and of the city of Manchester and its history was simply amazing. Generous in her time and we came away wowed” S & BH

We have our weekly society meeting on Wednesday and so we will look at our best images from our marvellous day and send onto you.

EXCEPTIONALLY INTERESTING TOWN HALL GUIDED TOUR
“On a dull and cool Sunday Hubby and I decided to do something we’d been promising ourselves to do for years – a tour round Manchester Town Hall. We knew it was a marvellous Gothic style building with a very interesting history and always wanted to look inside and find out more about it. We saw a guided tour advertised in the Manchester Evening News and popped along for 11 am on Sunday to see if we could join it. You are really advised to book in advance but we were lucky as the Guide fitted us in with about 20 other people. The cost was £6 (£5 for seniors) which we thought was money well spent. The Tour Guide, Suzanne Hindle, was brilliant with full knowledge of the history of the Town Hall and it’s past inhabitants. If you do a Manchester tour (www.amanchestertour.co.uk) try and get one with Suzanne as the guide as she was first class. The tour lasted 90 full minutes and took in a short walk outside and then it was inside, where we were treated to the splendours of the architecture and history of various rooms and chambers. We were even taken to the triangular courtyard in the middle of the Town Hall which is never seen by most folk. This area and many of the interior areas are constantly being used for film and TV dramas, the latest being The Iron Lady. This tour is well worth doing and an exceptional way to see the inside of one of the magnificent old buildings in Manchester. Next time you get the chance do it!” patsyd Reviewed 28 February 2012 on TripAdvisor
